Pastoral perspective – “Fool!”

But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you;…

This parable (Luke 16:12-21) is about a rich man who stores up so much of his goods thinking that he will find security and a comfortable future by what was stored up for himself by the fruit of that labor.

Life (without God) has a way of teaching us that we need to be consumed and use all our focus and strength to achieve all that we can so that we will have more and bigger and better things. (Without God) It is an exhausting process and one that will never find us true satisfaction or fulfillment.

Let’s say that a person didn’t care about how much money they had but rather their happiness and dependance were on their spouse or children. They were so focused with that codependent relationship that it’s where they find security and purpose. What were to happen if that spouse or child were to leave and never come back… that individual would be forever ruined because they felt rejection and great loss.

Please hear me that I’m not against having nice things, providing for our families, succeeding in life, and especially not against families. The point that I’m trying to make is that as children of God we need the proper viewpoint and perspective of life and what is important and not important.

You remember the story of Job right? Remember that in the Bible when Job was going through all his hard times and questioning God about all the difficulties and troubles…God’s responded in Job 38 saying words to the effect of where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth, etc.

Listen and know the facts that we did not choose when we were born, where we were born, our race, our natural family, our gender, our physical appearance, etc. However there is One who did make the choices. God made all of them and it’s so important for us to understand our lives isn’t about only us.

I pray that we will realize this truth and we will prioritize our relationship and pursuit of God first and foremost. When that happens He will become more precious than everything and when we live out of that posture and become a blessing to our careers, our families, etc. and not trying to find purpose, needing the approval, etc. from all of that but rather live For His glory and let God flow through us unto all situations and areas of life. That’s Christianity.

We are here on this earth not to be self-centered but God-centered. To accept Truth and make Him Lord and Savior by asking Him to forgive our sins and confess/believe that He rose from the dead (Romans 10:9-13). To seek God daily asking Him to make us useable for His Kingdom.

Emotional rides

Yelling in the open, venting all frustration
Emotional rides lay a valley of ashes
Precious are our most beloved ones
Exuasting is our behavior before others
Unheard expressions deep within our soul
Unbalanced life will bring everything reigning down
Appropriate surrender acknowledges His majesty
God of gods entered in as a baby
Humbled origins matters not
He can make an impact through our vessel
Only our life can be lived before Him
All the others pieces will come together
Let us remember to daily touch the knee

Matter of perception

Ability to see is not a matter of perception
The veil is over many of hearts
Melody arises from deep within
Breaking forth now out of every pore
Greatest of shows, You and I are finally alone
You usher me to pure silence
Exhaling all oxygen out of the lungs
Planting my forehead down on the hard surface
Worshiping You has constantly grasped my attention
I choose to embrace You no matter the circumstances
Burning fire emanates out of my body, heavenly touch
Choose now to set the gaze upon You, Master

Once again

You are the rock upon which we stand,
many have fallen, lost and broken.
Wondrous life full of His beauty,
infested pitfalls laced with secret traps.
Coming together to accomplish the true cause,
encountering true love, seamlessly changes.
Standing by your side, not letting go,
Your inspiration reigns throughout my vocals.
Desire to grow grounded by a desire to know,
You answer the calls of my heart.
Surrounding my life yet once again,
the only place where I know to begin.
Sensing jealous passion for generations,
Fathers heart searches the depth of us.

Pastoral perspective – be ye transformed

… be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2

In the Kingdom of God we (His children) do not mature with the simple passing of time like what happens in life, the natural realm. Actually (if possible) we could choose to do absolutely nothing with our days and time would still pass on and we will age accordingly. Again please let me say again because it is important to know that we (children of the Living God) do not grow or mature in the truths of Scripture with the same natural method of time passing… we have to make a choice.

Unfortunately there are plenty of Christians who have been saved for years and decades but that doesn’t mean that they are mature Christians. No, the Bible says that we need to be transformed (mature in Christ) by renewing our minds (to the truth of God’s word). So we choose to read the scripture in the Bible and think on, meditate, and imagine His truths to begin the process of growth.

Let us think about it this way, we send our children to school and they do not sit there and do nothing (God willing), they are taught and feed information day in and day out to the point where the information fills their brains and eventually we see change. It’s a similar process with The Lord except the addition I would add is that when we ponder scripture we do it from a prayerfully attitude believing God to reveal His truths of the Bible.

God loves the world and everyone in the world and if all that was to ever happen was for people to get give their lives to God and get born-again, God would accept that person regardless of how much time they spend in the Bible or not, however they were able to get born-again because some how someway they heard the truth that comes from the Bible and truth was applied and changed happened.

The Lord never intended for us to live a self-centered Christian life. Sadly there are major problems in His Body. The divorce rate among Christian Families is at an extreme high rate, many Christians are live in the depths of depression, and others see no hope in there lives and this is to name a few…

Now please do not misunderstand, I’m not saying that we (His children) won’t ever have problems or issues (the Bible says we will go through persecution) though it is crucial to know truth of Scripture and apply it to our lives by renewing our minds.

God desires and wants us to mature in Him like we would for our children to see them become a fully-grown functioning adult that is productive and is intentional with their God given life for His Kingdom and His glory.

So, be ye transformed by the renewing of your minds and grow in God today.

Bursting out

Shutting down, worldly things lost it’s flavor
Self made meaning isn’t enough anymore
Rumbling around inside the Spirit
Unquenchable hunger that’s been ignored
Stopping now, everything is finished
Without Your presence there is nothing
Still silence wraps this moment
Fixed posture, holding in the oxygen
Wasted time, wasted years, constant motion
Grateful for what You reveal yet again
Endless Love has no boundaries

Cold steps

Not wanting the next moment to pass quickly
Anticipation heightens all the senses
Cold steps toward the unimportant task
Determination can limit accurate perception
Their struggles are openly on display
Action-less compassion means absolutely nothing
Sounds of the heart fill the ears
Responding choice needs to be clear
Their faces say more than any words
Harsh concrete breaks all souls
The sea of people wrap around
How much longer will we be passive
